Accommodation upgrade – Retreat Huts
Our Accommodation is really well…
Our Accommodation is really well loved and it’s time for a much needed freshen up. In 2017 a generous benefactor, volunteer labour and careful purchasing allowed us to upgrade our dorm rooms with bunks, couches and new linen to create a comfortable low cost environment to meet the needs of visiting groups. We also managed to purchase new linen for our lotus house rooms and install new curtains – beautifully made by some of our nuns.
In 2018 we’ve completed an upgrade of Sangha House and we are now focusing on our Retreat Huts. With your support, they’ll receive fresh paint, new furniture and appliances and linen to make them more comfortable for retreats and weekend stays.
We thank the generous benefactors who have already supported our efforts and hope to build on your donations to complete this project.

Help us make the most of our Merit Box grant.
In 2018 we were awarded a Merit Box grant to complete work on the Wellbeing Center.
Our Wellbeing Centre is the social hub of our program where we hold social events, run FPMT Essential Education programs, Interfaith meetings and Tibetan Cultural Events. The building creates income streams from our wellbeing programs and facility hire that supports our less financially viable Dharma and Retreat programs. It also allows us to offer sponsored weekends each year including Refuge courses and our Mani Retreat.
We plan to upgrade the Wellbeing Center with a sound system, insect screening, and upgraded decking to make the most of it’s potential to earn income for Chenrezig Institute. We’ve been awarded $1000 US dollars but need an additional $4835 to complete this project.

It’s not glamorous but it is essential. We’ve been working towards renovating our sewage system to meet the upgraded requirements of the local council and the Environmental Protection Agency. This is a large and complex project that is staged so that we can complete it with minimal disruption to our programs and community.
In 2017 we successfully completed the first stage of the project with new systems successfully supplied to our volunteer accommodation. This first step allowed us to test the know-how of our contractors and build a relationship with them. We now know they can get us to through to the completion of this project.
Stage two of this project will allow us to upgrade the sewage system by building a treatment plant that will meet the requirements of the Environmental Protection Regulations across our site. The plant itself will be built away from the main facilities. It will improve the efficiency and safety of the site as well as respect our precious environment, endangered species and the Maroochy river catchment.
We have successfully funded 80% the project due to the generosity of our community and major benefactors. We now need community support to raise the final $20,000 that will allow us to complete stage two.

Support our precious sangha by ensuring they have all the nourishment they need to study, practice and teach the Dharma. Money raised through this fund is used to provide healthy, vegetarian meals to all our sangha members, as well as visiting sangha members. Many of these sangha members have a vital role in making teachings and initiations available to students.
When we support the flourishing of Sangha, we support the flourishing of the Dharma for all sentient beings.

Prayer and Puja Dedications
You can request prayers or Pujas are dedicated for yourself, your friends or relatives who may be ill, or who have died, who need help to you overcome difficulties or obstacles or to create auspicious circumstances. Prayers are completed daily by our community. Pujas are offered on specific days in the Tibetan lunar calendar, if you sponsor a puja, it will be carried out on the next scheduled date.
You may also like to send us a picture of your friend or relative, together with the reason why practices are being requested, these are read out during the practice.
By making a donation, a tangible connection is established between the person who is in need of prayers and those who are reciting the prayers on their behalf.
Your donations contribute to the cost of the offerings made at each ceremony including flowers, lights, saffron, tea, incense and food. When someone passes away, we say prayers for 49 days following the death and make feast (tsog) offerings on their behalf.
Of course, you may choose to offer as much as you are inspired and able to do so.
