Green Tara Retreat:
Tara is a bodhisattva of compassion who manifests in female form. In Tibetan, Tara is known as “Drolma”, or “She Who Saves.” In particular, Green Tara, represents compassion in action, since she’s in the process of stepping from her lotus throne in order to help sentient beings.
According to Tibetan Buddhism, Tara was born out of the tear of compassion of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. It is said that Avalokiteshvara wept looking upon the world of suffering beings, and his tears formed a lake in which a lotus sprang up. When the lotus opened, the goddess Tara was revealed.
Tara is the most powerful deity for the removal of obstacles, fear, anxiety, and obscurations. On the advice of Geshe Tsultrim, we would like to dedicate this powerful practice for Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s unmistaken reincarnation to come quickly, and for the success of the new Gompa project for the benefit of all sentient beings.
Ven Tony Beaumont returns to lead this lovely retreat and will help people come to an understanding of the practice which enables them to arouse this beautiful energy within themselves.
This retreat is suitable for all, those beginning their path and investigating the methods of tantra, as well as for more experienced students wishing to deepen their understanding and enjoy these days of explanation, discussion and meditation.
It is not necessary to have received any initiation or lung to participate in the retreat. Included in the schedule will be an explanation of the Buddhist path.
The retreat will be available in person and online.
NOTE: Geshe Tsultrim will teach on Sunday morning at 10.30am as part of the retreat and others will be invited to come to the gompa for this teaching.
