Lama Tsongkhapa Day 2025

  • Chenrezig Institute 33 Johnsons Road Eudlo, QLD, 4554 Australia (map)

About Event:

We invite you to join us for Lama Tsongkhapa Day, or Ganden Ngamchoe, which commemorates the anniversary of Lama Tsongkhapa’s parinirvana.

This auspicious day is observed on the 25th day of the 10th month of the Tibetan calendar.

This year, Lama Tsongkhapa Day falls on Sunday, December 14.

There are many meaningful practices one can engage in to celebrate and accumulate merit on this special occasion.

The main practice, recommended by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, is Lama Chöpa. The FPMT Foundation Store makes this practice available in hardcopy and as a downloadable PDF. If you are unable to do Lama Chöpa, Lama Tsongkhapa Guru Yoga is also recommended. Additionally, there are other practices students are encouraged to do, as they are able.

Schedule for the day

8:00 AM - Extensive water bowls offering in front of the Lama Tsongkhapa statue in the Nalanda Masters Garden

9:30 AM - Offering Prayers including Lama Tsongkhapa Guru Yoga, in the NMG with Geshe Tsultrim

10:00 AM - Animal blessings in the Nalanda Masters Garden with Geshe Tsultrim

(Please book in advance through Big Love Café)

6:00 PM – Guru Puja with Tsog in the Gompa , followed by the Extensive Light Offering

Light Offering

By offering lights to Lama Tsongkhapa, merit fields, and so forth, we create the cause of enlightenment, of liberation from samsara, and of the happiness of future lives. Also, success will happen in this life. Even if you hate happiness in this life, it will still come by the way. This is what you get from offering every single candle or Christmas light to the Guru-Three Rare Sublime Ones.
