Lhabab Duchen: Shakyamuni Buddha’s descent from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three

  • Gompa - Chenrezig Institute 33 Johnsons Road Eudlo, QLD, 4554 Australia (map)

About Event:

Lhabab Düchen commemorates the return of Guru Shakyamuni Buddha to Earth from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three after imparting teachings on Dharma to the gods, including his mother, Mayadevi. She had passed away a week after Buddha's birth and was reborn there.

This is a particularly auspicious day to engage in meritorious activities as the effects of any actions performed multiply by 100 million times.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche highlighted the great importance of Shakyamuni Puja as a powerful practice for purifying obstacles and accumulating merit, creating the favourable conditions for receiving blessings and progressing along the graduated path to enlightenment. Based on the seven-limb practice, this beautiful ceremony encompasses all the essential stages of the path, offering a profound opportunity to deepen our Dharma practice.

Participants can make donations via our website as offerings to add to the offering made by the centre. If you have a bell and dorje, or mandala set, you are able to use them to participate in the ritual. Most of the Puja is chanted in Tibetan with the traditional tunes.

Attend in person

The Puja will be held in the Gompa and is in-person only.
