Living and Dying with a Peaceful Mind, with Geshe Thubten Sherab

  • Chenrezig Institute 33 Johnsons Road Eudlo, QLD, 4554 Australia (map)

About Event:

Life and death are inseparable parts of our human journey.
Understanding death allows us to live more fully—with awareness, kindness, and a deeper sense of purpose.

In this course, Geshe Sherab will offer practical advice for the time of death and meaningful guidance for making the most of our lives.

The teachings will support students in reflecting on and preparing for their own passing, as well as learning how to assist others with clarity and compassion.

Students will gain confidence in facing their own death and will learn how to provide support before, during, and even after the passing of loved ones.

Geshela will guide us through the stages of dying, offering teachings and meditations that deepen understanding and cultivate courage, gentleness, and compassion.

Drawing from Buddhist wisdom and personal reflection, we will explore practical ways to meet impermanence, transform fear, and open our hearts to acceptance and loving presence.

Whether you are navigating loss, supporting someone through a transition, or simply wishing to develop a more peaceful relationship with life’s natural cycle, this course offers gentle guidance and inspiration for living—and dying—with a peaceful mind.

About our Teacher:

Geshe Thubten Sherab was born in Nepal of Tibetan parents, and received his education at Kopan Monastery, Nepal, the spiritual center of the FPMT. He completed his studies at Sera Jey Monastic University and at Gyume Tantric College in India. He has lived in the USA working at the FPMT Central office and several nearby Dharma Centers in Taos, New Mexico.

He returned to Nepal after several years in the U.S. to become Headmaster of Kopan Monastery. Geshe-la has retired from the this role in order to have more time to devote to meditation and to teaching internationally.
