White Umbrella Deity Obstacle Clearing Puja 2026

  • Gompa - Chenrezig Institute 33 Johnsons Road Eudlo, QLD, 4554 Australia (map)

About Event:

Join us to purify obstacles, receive the blessings of the deity for every success in your life, and experience the healing benefits of these sacred pujas and rituals.

Performed by the Gyume Monks.

White Umbrella Deity (Sanskrit: Ushnisha Sitatapatra; Tibetan: Dug-kar) is known as the Great Expeller, whose powerful blessings offer protection from fearful, inauspicious, and harmful conditions. Traditionally, this practice is performed to avert obstacles such as illness, negative influences, untimely death, and threats to life and well-being.

Ushnisha Sitatapatra is a female form of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Like this Bodhisattva in an elaborate form, she also has a thousand eyes that watch over living beings, and a thousand arms that protect and assist them. Thus she symbolises the power of active compassion.

On a deeper level, the practice of White Umbrella Deity is a profound purification ritual. Through the blessings of the deity, practitioners purify inner afflictions and ignorance, remove obstacles on the spiritual path, cultivate wisdom, and create the causes to attain complete enlightenment. In this way, true protection extends beyond safeguarding us from external difficulties—it supports our inner transformation and ultimate awakening.

This important practice brings together the benefits of both worldly protection and spiritual liberation. We warmly invite you to attend in person to receive the blessings of the puja and to bring your family and friends to share in this auspicious occasion.

Schedule

The pujas will be held on both Saturday, 1 August, and Sunday, 2 August. Each day will include two morning sessions from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and two afternoon sessions from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm, led by the Gyume Monks.
