About Event:
This course, drawn from the book Heart Advice for death and dying, sets out Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s essential advice for the time of death and for making life meaningful. It also provides practical ways for thinking about and preparing for one’s own and others’ deaths. Students will gain confidence in facing their own death and will also be able to provide help and support to others before, during, and even after their death.
This course is suitable for anyone, Buddhist or not, who is interested in learning more about death and dying from a Buddhist perspective. It consists of teachings, guided meditations, mindfulness practices, and many other materials to help students prepare for and experience their own and others’ deaths with courage and serenity.
In reality, when we actively think about death and prepare for it, we find more peace, happiness, and fulfillment in our lives and our fear of death disappears.
About our Teacher:
Ven. Lozang Lhagsam has 30 years experience in palliative care, worked as a registered nurse for most of her career, and has been a Buddhist nun since 2000. She brings the insight and experience of both the wisdom of the Buddha and the modern medical field. She has helped many people (and her cat) through protracted illness and death, and conducts funerals for Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike.
Ven. Lhagsam has been involved with Cittamani Hospice on the Sunshine Coast and Karuna Hospice on the north side of Brisbane since 1996. She was part of the steering committee that established Cittamani and has worked as a volunteer with their clients since then.
