About Event:
Join Sherab for a rejuvenating weekend of mindfulness meditation designed to restore your nervous system and cultivate calm as you ease into the new year.
Drawing on authentic Buddhist teachings on Calm Abiding, this retreat offers a blend of guided meditation, practical instruction, and techniques to help you begin—or deepen—your regular meditation practice.
The nature of the mind is bright and clear, yet mental afflictions come and go, disturbing our inner peace. When we settle body, speech, and mind in their natural state, we discover a stable, peaceful baseline from which we can recognise disturbances as they arise and gently return to balance.
This weekend offers a precious opportunity to step away from daily busyness and immerse yourself in a practice that brings harmony to the mind and healing to the body. Learn to recognise when afflictions distort your mind and cultivate the ability to restore peace and clarity, leading to a deeper sense of wellbeing and emotional balance.
While the teachings are rooted in the Buddhist tradition, you do not need to be Buddhist to benefit. These practical methods for calm and awareness can be applied to any aspect of modern life.
About the Teacher:
Sherab found Buddhism in her early twenties and has spent the last 25 years studying and practising within both the Gelug and Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, including 14 years as a Buddhist nun.
Originally from Melbourne, she was raised in a devout Christian family who instilled in her the importance of kindness, love, and care for others — as well as a deep respect for faith, community, and spirituality.
Trained as a classical violinist, Sherab continues to teach and perform on the Sunshine Coast. She discovered that meditation and Buddhist practice enhance musical performance by heightening focus and easing attachment to perfectionism.
After completing a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy, Sherab now combines her passion for physical and mental wellbeing with the Buddha Dharma, leading meditation sessions and retreats.
An avid gardener and nature lover, she often encourages her clients to reconnect with the natural world — prescribing beach and nature walks as part of a balanced, mindful life.
