About Event:
Chenrezig Institute is extremely honoured to announce the weekend event with the most Venerable Geshe Doga-la. Geshela has kindly accepted our request to return to Chenrezig Institute over two days offering White Tara Long Life Empowerment on Saturday 1st and Vajrasattva Jenang (permission to practice)on Sunday 2nd.
Glorious White Tara is the healer of all ills and giver of long life.
Those who receive the empowerment and commit to the practice can expect to enhance their spiritual vitality, expand their capacity for compassion, and begin to overcome deep-rooted fears—including the fear of death.
Vajrasattva practice is designed to help students purify the negative karma that leads to suffering and obstacles to their spiritual development. By receiving the Jenang (permission initiation) of Vajrasattva, students are able to connect more closely with this deity and the hundred-syllable mantra recitation that is a key facet of his practice. By relying on the practice of Vajrasattva each day, it is explained that unwholesome karmas are prevented from multiplying, and by engaging in the practice with the four opponent powers, even significant negative karma can be completely purified.
About the Teacher:
Venerable Geshe Lobsang Dorje Doga was born in July 1935 in a small village called Khanze, situated in a valley in the remote Kham region of North-East Tibet. He arrived in Australia on January 1, 1983, having been invited by Lama Yeshe to become the resident teacher at Atisha Centre, our sister centre near Bendigo.
Geshe Doga became resident teacher at Tara Institute (Melbourne) in September 1984. His first teachings were from Shantideva’s “Guide to a Bodhisattva’s Way of Life” and “Lo Rig” or mind and its functions.
Over the years, Tara Institute has grown enormously thanks to the confidence that Geshe Doga’s patient and lucid guidance Lama Zopa Rinpoche always asks us to treasure Geshela and to heed his advice.
During this special weekend of teachings and empowerments, the Sera Jey Geshes will lead two powerful practices:
Most Secret Hayagriva Puja – Saturday afternoon
Fire Puja for Purification and Healing – Sunday afternoon
The practice of Most Secret Hayagriva is known for its immense power to swiftly pacify obstacles, offer protection, and provide vital support. The Fire Puja is a deeply purifying ritual traditionally performed for healing, cleansing negativities, and restoring balance.
